Black Grizzled Chausie
Zen is a young black grizzled tabby Chausie

Sarsenstone Psusennes

Psusennes, whom we usually call "Zen,"  is a great example of a black grizzled Chausie. His amazing grizzling is what inspired us to name him after King Psusennes of Egypt, the Silver Pharaoh. We could already see the grizzling on him at birth, which is unusual. Zen now has grizzling virtually everywhere on his body. It's on his face, legs, and even on his tail. Those are all locations where grizzling rarely occurs. Since cats of this pattern continue to get more and more grizzled until they are 3 years old, we wonder what he will look like then. It's part of the excitement of living with Chausies, that they continually show us something new.

As interesting as Zen's pattern is, the best thing about him is his personality. He is closely related to Tor, our first Chausie. The other day Zen made the "wookie" sound that Tor used to make. We loved it!

While it would be difficult for Zen to turn out as stunning looking as Tor, he is quite nice. He has the long, lanky body and the big ears. And, he has something Tor did not have. Zen is fertile.

With the right queen, perhaps one of these days we will have more little Zens and even a Tor or two around here making those amazing wookie sounds and giving head butts to every person they meet.
