Tasurt Tor of Sarsenstone

Tor was a black ticked tabby Chausie and the best example of a Chausie of his generation that we've seen, before or since. He was a C3S generation Chausie. That means he had nothing but real Chausies in his pedigree for at least two generations on both sides of the pedigree. The closest Jungle Cat in Tor's pedigree was three generations back on one side of the pedigree. Tor was bred by Bobbie Tullo of Tasurt Cattery in Arizona. As long-time fans of the Thai/Siamese, we thought only cats from Thailand could make us happy. But we were wrong. Tor was bright, quietly communicative, and had a well developed sense of humor and love for play and athletic activity. He greeted all visitors at the door and made friends with all of our cats.  Although an altered male and about 11 pounds, Tor looked like he weighed 15 pounds because he was so tall and long and deep-chested. That's typical of Chausies. They are lean and athletic, but tend to be on the ectomorphic side, mostly legs and ears and long body. If Tor had been a dog, he'd have been some kind of shepherd. He liked to help us round up cats when he saw we were trying to catch someone. Kind and gentle, Tor also liked to look after kittens and smallish cats. He would play with them, groom them, and nap with them when other cats might tend to ignore them or give them a hard time. Unfortunately, when Tor was not quite 3 years old, he came down with pneumonia. Although antibiotics cleared his lungs and got him back on his feet again, he never fully recovered. We asked a vet to perform a necropsy, but the cause of his decline was not found. He was never a breeding cat, never produced any offspring. He was, however, one of the best cats we've ever known. He is the reason we love Chausies.
